The Best of the Burgh

For this entry, I've decided to focus on sports drinks! Around this time of year, people tend to get sick. With flu season here, people need to stay properly hydrated!
First, the classic Gatorade is always a good choice. It contains electrolytes, and keeps your body hydrated. Even if your not working out, Gatorade helps when you're sick! It will boost you right back up.
People can get sick of plain water when they drink so much, so trying out Vitamin Water would be a good idea. It has flavors like Acai-Blueberry, and it's packed with vitamins to keep your immune system healthy. There's also other flavored water brands like Propel, I'd recommend the grape flavor.
Lastly, there are supplements you can buy to make your own health drink! Packets like emergen-c add the deaily nutrients you need to stay healty-and they taste great!

Everyone loves a good cup of hot chocolate, and most people aren't going to go out and buy one. With store bought mixes available 24/7, they are definitely the way to go. For this entry, I'm going to tell you the best mixes to buy!
My favorite brand is probably Land O' Lakes. It comes in a wide variety of flavors: white chocolate, mint chocolate, milk or dark chocolate, etc. There is a lot of powder in the bag, so you can make a big cup or a smaller one that is extra chocolatey. I would recommend the mint chocolate!
Next, everyone knows the classic Nestle brand. It doesn't come with a lot of flavoring in the package, so you have to use 1 and a half packages if you want a nice, strong flavor. However, it is a nice, cheap way to get hot chocolate.
I would reccomend staying away from hot chocolate that comes pre-packaged with marshmallows already in it. They are typically small and stale, so you should add your own mini marshmallows. Add the marshmallows in the bottom, and then add the water so it's frothy. Also, if you want a creamy drink try using milk instead!

Today, I'm going to be blogging about a few do it yourself easy tricks!
Everyone always loves the frappes, but the prices can get high. All you need is a few ingredients, a blender and a cup! First, you'll need some mocha flavoring, ice, whipped cream, milk and chocolate drizzle! Just add mocha syrup, ice and milk into the blender. The ratios aren't specific, it depends on how strong of a flavor you want. If you want an extra chocolate drink, add a few drops of chocolate syrup! Blend until all the ice is wet, and pour into a cup. Top with whipped cream and drizzle, and you have a mocha frappe!
If you want a hot drink, buy a specialty flavor like pumpkin spice. You can find them from anywhere like walmart to Gloria Jeans. Brew up a cup, and add in some coffee mate flavoring. They make all different flavors; they make French Vanilla to Gingerbread. I would recommend vanilla, because it adds a subtle kick to any drink.
Making your own drinks is easy, and inexpensive!

For the drinks this week, I decided to highlight some of the amazing frappes at Starbucks. They have dozens of kinds, but there are some that are particullary good this time of year.
They make a frappe called Chocolate Cookie Crumble, which is a supreme chocolate drink for chocolate lovers. There are cookie bits and chocolate chips all throughout the drink and on top of the whipped cream. The frappe itself is a blend of the chocolate, milk, ice and chocolate bits. Even the whipped cream is chocolate flavored!
If you're looking to watch calories, try the Caramel Frappuccino Light! It has caramel syrup, ice and coffee blended together. It's topped with caramel drizzle and skips the whipped cream to help save calories! It comes in about 130 calories, which is extremely good for a coffee drink!

This week, I'm going to highlight the best hot drinks my work has! There is a lot less of the warm drinks available, and they don't have a wide variety of flavors, so if you want a fancy cappuccino I would recommend Starbucks instead.
However, the drinks they do have a good for a cheap, quick jolt of energy! First, they have extremely good mochas. They come with either chocolate or chocolate caramel syrup, and topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. You can add a shot of espresso if you want to really be awake, but it makes it taste a lot more bitter.
If you aren't a coffee fan, they have amazing hot chocolates. It's simply chocolate, chocolate caramel syrup or chocolate peppermint syrup mixed with milk and water. It's also topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. I would recommend the chocolate peppermint, it's limited around the holidays and it's not too strong of a peppermint flavor like other minty drinks can be. It has good balance, and puts you in the holiday mood!

For this week's entry, I decided to highlight some of the best drinks we have at my work, McDonald's. Since I work there, I get to try all the drinks for free. This week, I'm going to tell you about the best cold drinks we have from McCafe.
When I want a cold drink, I go for three different kinds: a frappe, a smoothie or a milkshake. For the frappe, there is 3 different kinds. There is a Mocha, caramel or chocolate chip. The mocha is a more chocolate taste, while the caramel is very a sweet light taste. The chocolate chip is a combination of both with bits of chocolate chips mixed in. The chocolate gives you a unique original taste, and is definitely my favorite!
For the smoothies, there is also three kinds. There is Blueberry Pomegranate, which is a tart mixed berry taste. Then there is mango pineapple, which is a very tropical summer taste. Lastly, there is a strawberry banana. Usually, I don't care for drinks with banana in them, but this smoothie has a heavier strawberry taste than most.
Lastly, there is the classic milkshakes. We have 3 staple flavors: chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. They are just like any other typical milkshakes you can get at any other fast food place, but our seasonal milkshakes are the best. Right now, we have a pumpkin spice milkshake. It tastes like a blend of pumpkin pie and vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream and cherry. Overall, this is my favorite drink to get at McDonald's!

As summer comes to a close, we say goodbye to fruity tart drinks. However, we bring back something even better: steamy, creamy fall drinks! The perfect match to a chilly fall evening is a cup of hot coffee with friends. If you travel to Gloria Jean's(which can be found in most malls), you can pick up a huge 4 pack of fall flavored coffee! They have Caramel Apple Nut, Caramel Pecan Roll, Carrot Cream Cupcake, and Pumpkin Spice. I was estatic when my mom brought it home, the first thing I did was brew up a pot of Caramel Apple Nut, put some caramel creamer in, and put on a cheesy lifetime movie.
If you're looking for something a little more spicy and fancy, I suggest getting the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. It's filled with creamer, espresso and pumpkin spice coffee. It's topped off with pumpkin spices and whipped cream! It gives a jolt to get you through the day, and the flavor brings you right to Schram's farm picking out your favorite pumpkin.
The best part of fall is by far sipping on a hot pumpkin drink, it will warm you right up!
